c-LEcta and Novozymes have disclosed an exclusive license agreement
A few days ago on this year’s European Forum for Industrial Biotechnology (EFIB) c-LEcta and Novozymes have disclosed an exclusive license agreement. The contract was signed at the end 2010 and grants Novozymes rights on a proprietary food enzyme developed by c-LEcta. The enzyme is a thermoactive asparaginase which is used to reduce the formation of acrylamide in carbohydrate-rich foodstuff that undergoes high-temperature processing. The outstanding performance of the enzyme was e.g. proven for the treatment of corn-flakes and coffee. In a joint talk given during the EFIB in Brussels last week c-LEcta and Novozymes announced that the regulatory approval for the enzyme in major countries is expected at the end of this year and that Novozymes is about to launch the product in selected applications.
