European Patent Office grants patent on c-LEcta’s Asparaginase

c-LEcta has been granted a European patent protecting the company’s thermoactive asparaginase (EP2193198B1). Asparaginases are used as food processing aids for reducing levels of acrylamide, a substance that is generally considered of potential health risk to the consumer. c-LEcta’s asparaginase was launched in a commercialization partnership by Novozymes as Acrylaway HighT®, the first enzyme product on the market that allows treatment of foodstuff at high temperatures.
