Dr. Marc Struhalla
CEO and Managing Director
Marc is co-founder, shareholder and managing director of c-LEcta. He earned a Ph.D. at the University of Hamburg following an undergraduate study in biochemistry at the University of Leipzig. On completion of his Ph.D., he returned to the University of Leipzig before founding c-LEcta. Marc has more than 10 years of experience in product development and commercialization in the industrial biotech field and managed the closure of numerous strategic alliances with the industry.
Harry joined c-LEcta in September 2015 as CFO. After finishing his legal studies in Trier and Muenster, he practiced law for ten years as a lawyer, before he joined a US software company as General Counsel Central Europe in 2000. In 2002, he joined a German software company as General Counsel and Director Finance, and afterwards, in 2006 joined Novaled AG in Dresden as CFO. At Novaled, he was responsible for all legal and financial aspects of the preparation for an intended IPO at the Nasdaq, and finally for the sale of the company to the Samsung Group.
Head of Finance & Administration
Carsten joint c-LEcta in 2004. He studied business administration at the Friedrich-Schiller University in Jena and has experience as a consultant in the Life Science industry as well as in biotechnology business startup. Carsten is responsible for finance and administration and also supports the development and implementation of product sales strategies.
Dr. Andreas Vogel
Head of R&D Enzyme Development
Andreas has more than 10 years of experience in the field of biocatalysis and enzyme engineering. He is Head of R&D Enzyme Development at c-LEcta. He originally trained in chemistry (University of Münster, Germany). After obtaining his Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry/Chemistry from the University of Münster he started postdoctoral work at the EMBL outstation in Hamburg in 2000, where he focused on structure-function relationships of enzymes. In 2003 he started his second postdoctoral research at the Max-Planck-Institute for Coal Research with Prof. M. T. Reetz, where he was involved in the development of methods for enzyme optimization (CASTing, B-Fit) and biocatalysis. In 2006 he joined c-LEcta, first as a Scientist and since 2007 as Head of Biocatalysis & Enzyme Engineering.
Dr. Mathias Bell, MBA
Head of Legal Affairs & IP
Mathias holds a Ph.D. in biochemistry (Charité, Berlin & Justus Liebig University, Giessen) and a Master of Business Administration (MBA; ESCP Europe). He spent more than 10 years in the biotech industry and in intellectual property asset management and licensing for various companies. As Head of Legal Affairs and IP Mathias contributes to c LEcta’s business professional experience across the full spectrum of technology in- and out licensing, structuring and negotiating of business and contract terms for licensing and cooperation agreements, and dealing with intellectual property issues.
Dr. Arnd Knoll
Head of Production
Arnd joined the company in 2012 as Head of Production. He is responsible for c-LEcta’s internal production facility as well as the manufacturing of c-LEcta’s products at external sites of contract manufacturing organizations. After graduating in process engineering majoring in biochemical engineering at the University of Technology Dresden, he obtained his PhD in biochemical engineering at the Chair of Biochemical Engineering of the University of Aachen (RWTH). Before joining c-LEcta Arnd worked as Process Engineer in the Department of Biotechnology Plants of Linde Engineering.
Dr. Andreas Buthe
Senior Business Development Manager
Andreas is Senior Business Development Manager at c-LEcta and received his academic training at the University of Heidelberg and the RWTH Aachen University in Germany. He graduated in 2006 with a PhD degree in biotechnology and biochemical engineering. In 2006 he joined the Group Research of Ciba Inc. in Basel Switzerland followed by an appointment with the Department of Bioproducts and Biosystems Engineering at the University of Minnesota. His research was dedicated to the implementation of immobilized enzymes to large-scale processes and the development of biofunctional materials. Driven by the dynamic prospects of industrial biotechnology he joined c-LEcta in 2010.
Cord von Limburg
Head of Sales
Cord joined c-LEcta in 2017 and is responsible for all product sales and distribution activities of the company. He is an enthusiastic professional with more than 20 years of marketing & sales experience, primarily in the pharmaceutical, food & beverage, health care & cosmetic industry. After completing his business administration studies in Lueneburg, his major expertise has been the development of new businesses through building effective sales- and distribution networks. Personal efficiency, strategic thinking, fair & longstanding business relationships and a customer-orientated thinking are among his strengths.
Dr. Klaus Warning
Dr. Klaus Warning holds a Ph.D. in chemistry and is Chairman of the Advisory Board and shareholder of c-LEcta. He is a Member of the Executive Board and equity partner of ChemAdvice GmbH, an advisory and consulting firm for the chemical industry and financial investors. As a former member of the Executive Committee, Executive Vice President of the Hoechst Celanese Corporation and a former member of the Executive Committee of SGL Carbon AG, he possesses a wealth of expertise and experience perfectly suited to support the goals of c-LEcta.
Prof. Dr. Annette Beck-Sickinger
Prof. Dr. Annette Beck-Sickinger leads the Institute of Biochemistry at the University of Leipzig. She studied chemistry and biology at the University of Tübingen. After research stays in the USA, Denmark and Switzerland, she received the venia legendi for biochemistry at the University of Tübingen in 1995. Until 1999 she was assistant professor of Pharmaceutical Biochemistry at ETH Zurich before she accepted the chair for Biochemistry and Bioorganic Chemistry at the University of Leipzig. From 2000 to 2005 she was managing director of the Institute of Biochemistry. In 2003 she was elected to the boards of Max-Bergmann-Kreis, in 2004 to the German Chemical Society (Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker), and is member of the German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG) review board “Biochemistry”.
Dr. Detlef Wilke
Dr. Detlef Wilke, who obtained his Ph.D. in microbiology, has a long-term industrial experience in the markets addressed by c-LEcta. From 1978 to 1983 he worked at Schering AG before taking over the responsibility for biotechnological Research and Development at Solvay, including the field of industrial enzymes. Since then he has been active as an independent advisor (Dr. Wilke & Partner, Biotech Consulting GmbH). He is a consultant in the field of industrial biotechnology in particular for strategic planning and market development.
Prof. Dr. Ralf Thiericke
Prof. Dr. Ralf Thiericke is managing director of the “Gesellschaft für Technologieförderung Itzehoe mbH“. He studied chemistry at the University of Göttingen. After his Ph.D. degree on natural products he moved to the general pharmaceutical research department at Hoechst AG and was appointed head of department at the Hans-Knöll Institute for Natural Product Research in 1994, later starting as founder and Managing Director of CyBio Screening GmbH in 2000. Until September 2006 he acted as speaker of the cluster Biotechnology – Life Science in Central Germany. He holds a professorship for Organic Chemistry at the University of Jena.
Dr. Manfred Spindler
Dr. Manfred Spindler is managing partner of msp Beteiligungs GmbH, member of the executive board of Business Angels FrankfurtRheinMain and of different other advisory and supervisory boards. He holds a Ph.D. in chemistry and worked over 30 years in the chemical industry, most recently as member of the executive board of Degussa AG and as member of the managing board of Evonik Degussa GmbH. In particular he was responsible for fine chemicals and industrial chemicals as well as for specialty polymers. Besides, Dr. Spindler was a board member of different industrial associations like the Association of Energy and Climate Protection in the German Chemical Industry Association (VCI).
