Technology Transfer Manager (m/f/d)

Are you interested in taking on a key role in the scale-up and implementation of innovative biotechnology processes in manufacturing?
In this cross-functional position, you will lead technology transfer projects and work closely with interdisciplinary teams across the company as well as with external manufacturing partners. For our Technology Transfer team, we are seeking a Project Manager (m/f/d) with a strong understanding of biotechnological manufacturing processes and scale-up, who feels comfortable working in an international and collaborative environment.

251201_ChristianKortuem_c-lecta-3308c LEcta, as part of the Kerry Group, is a leading developer and producer of biotechnological products for regulated markets such as the food and pharmaceutical industries. Using state of the art technologies, we develop customized enzymes and microbial production strains that enable cost-efficient industrial manufacturing processes. More than 130 employees currently work at our site at the Alte Messe in Leipzig.

In our pilot and production facility, newly developed processes are tested and initial production runs are carried out under quality-controlled conditions in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001:2015 and industry-specific requirements. Following successful pilot trials, the process know-how is transferred to other Kerry sites or to external manufacturing partners. These internal and external technology transfer activities are coordinated by our Technology Transfer department. To strengthen this team, we are looking for a Technology Transfer Manager.

Key responsibilities:

  • You will take on a central, cross-functional role in managing and executing technology transfer projects.
  • You will be responsible for internal and external technology transfers and ensure their successful implementation.
  • You will work in matrix-organized, interdisciplinary teams in close collaboration with departments such as Research & Development, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Production, and Regulatory Affairs.
  • You will manage communication within project teams as well as with internal and external manufacturing sites (travel required < 5%).
  • You will create, maintain, and update process-relevant documentation, including process descriptions, gap analyses, risk assessments, process flow diagrams, and scale-up calculations.
  • You will be responsible for overall project management, reporting, and project budgets.
  • You will manage and document deviation and change control processes within the scope of technology transfer activities.

Your skills:

  • Education:  A completed degree in bioprocess engineering, biotechnology, food technology, or a comparable scientific discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
  • Experience:
    Experience with manufacturing processes in regulated industries (e.g. food, feed, or GMP environments)
    Experience in research & development or production of biotechnological products, ideally enzymes
  • Work style: 
    Strong project management skills with a high sense of responsibility for timelines and budgets
    A pragmatic, solution-oriented approach combined with a strong team-player mindset
  • Languages: Fluent German and very good English skills, both written and spoken.
