Biotechnological applications in food production have been established for thousands of years, e.g. for the production of wine, beer or cheese. During the last few decades many industries have discovered the potential of nature for a broad range of additional applications. These include several enzymatic applications in everyday routines, e.g. the use of enzymes in detergents, textile finishing, bakery or de-inking of pulp and paper. The use of enzymes in detergents allows low temperature and gentle washing.
Even in this area with already well-established enzymatic solutions, a range of unmet needs exist, e.g. the efficient removal of grass stain from textiles. c-LEcta is currently developing a new enzymatic solution for this application (Grass Stain Enzymes).
